Drawing machines for textile fibers

Drawing machines: machines for preparation for worsted and semi-worsted spinning

We at Officine Gaudino are among the few producers of worsted and semi-worsted wool spinning preparation machines in the world.

We have a wide range of models of drawing frames with draft head with fallers driven by screws (SD14) or chains (CD14), or with elastic draft head (MH17/E24).

The vertical finisher is the last machine of the line that produces the roving bobbins that are fed to the worsted ring spinning frame. A combing machine is being studied for re-combing.

The models available are:

  • SD14/CD14 = drawing frame with fallers driven by screws or chains
  • MH17/E24 = drawing frame with elastic draft head as 4th passage of preparation for spinning
  • VRF19/A-B = automatic vertical roving frame

SD14 / CD14 drawing frame with fallers driven by screws or chains

The drawing frame models CD14 (chain driven gill) and SD14 (screw driven gills) are both fitted on the same structure designed following two main aims: sturdiness, in order to avoid vibrations at high speed and the tunnel can changer, with the draft and calender group partially overhanging the delivery can, thus reducing the working path of the sliver from the calender to the coiler and allowing a compact machine size.

The can delivery tunnel type is available from a can diameter up to 800 mm. For cans with a larger diameter, a can changer of side translator type is available. The bobbin delivery is available for bobbins with a dimater adjustable up to 500 mm.

Thanks to a platform that extends along one side of the machine, the hood that opens toward the opposite end and a sliding panel, the access for the operator is free from the creel to the coiler.

The working areas are accessible only when the machine is standing. When the covers of the machine are open the machine can be set at work only by means of a special safety knob which allows limited ‘strokes’.

The drawing frames SD14 / CD14 can be combined with the Bump Press delivery.

MH17/E24 drawing frame with elastic draft head – 4th passaggio of preparation for worsted spinning (fine yarn counts)

The drawing frame model MH17/E24 for the fourth passage in a preparation line for worsted spinning, is fitted on a structure designed following these aims: sturdiness, in order to avoid vibrations at high speed, the tunnel can changer, the draft and calender group overhanging the delivery can, thus reducing the working path of the sliver from the calender to the coiler and allowing a compact machine size.

The sliver cutting does not employ any extra device and the slivers are threaded into the coilers pneumatically. The can type available for this machine are with 700 mm and 800 mm diameter and 1,000 mm and 1,200 mm heigth.

Thanks to two platforms that extend along the front and backward sides of the draft groups, two hoods that open toward the opposite sides of the machine, te access for the operator is free from the creel to the coilers. The working areas are accessible only when the machine is standing.

When the covers of the machine are open the machine can be set at work only by means of a special safety knob which allows limited strokes.

VRF19/A-B automatic vertical roving frame

Any possible machine setting do not require any gear change nor movement of levers or pulleys. In order to change draft, sliver tensioning to the feeding, draft gauge (ratch), amount of rubbing or roving traverse on the bobbin, the required data is set on a centralized touch-screen panel.

Each group of the machine has its own motor: the creel, the feed roller, the draft head and the ratch setting of the draft head and of the feed roller, the draft roller, the rubbing group, the false-twist roving guides and the winding roller, besides various motors for the automatic doffing of the bobbins.

The data of each lot (machine setting and production parameters) can be stored on the machine panel and downloaded on a USB key or with FPT software through the Ethernet gate of the operating panel. Remote assistance is also possible and all machines for the preparation for the worsted spinning made by Officine Gaudino can be connected on the same net.

No maintenance is required for the main kinematic organs: in particular, the pair of gears that controls the draft cylinders and the connecting rods that control the rubbing groups are automatically lubricated by oil rain with recirculation and cooling of the oil.

The machine is equipped with two rubbing groups in order to reach high speeds with rovings that require a high level of rubbing. The size of the rubbing sleeves has been designed to prevent heavier rovings from coming out of the rubbing sleeve when running at high speeds.

Furthermore, the centralized control of the rubbing lines allow an optimal timing between the two rubbing lines. The disassembly and re-assembly of the shafts for the replacement of the rubbing sleeves can be carried out simply and quickly, thanks to the use of newly designed joints between the shafts, developed especially for this application.

The bar that carries the thread-guide twisters is made of carbon fiber and slides axially alternately supported by sliding guide means made of low friction technological polymeric material that require no maintenance of any kind (they do not require oiling nor anything else) The bar is directly controlled by a motor and the program that regulates the movement of this motor allows an electronic precision winding of the roving bobbins.

The VRF19 vertical finisher can be supplied with two versions of the drafting field: version A, intended for the production of light weight rovings and for the processing of finer and shorter animal fibers, and version B, intended for the production of rovings of greater weight and for the processing of natural and chemical fibers in coarser and longer fibers.
