Twisting-doubling-twisting for glass filaments

Twister-doubler-twister (combination twisters) for glass filamenta by Lema Lezzeni

Officine Gaudino produces combination twisters in its LEMA LEZZENI division with a wide range of models, including some models for specific processes such as, for example, glass threads or monofilament threads.

The models are:

  • TBR/DELTA GLASS = 2×1 combination twister with top deck spindles in a ‘delta’ position
  • TBR/SC = combination twister with side creel for the first twist

TBR/DELTA glass combination twister with top deck spindles in a delta position

The TBR/DELTA GLASS model is a twister-doubler-twister in which the spindles of the upper deck for the first twist are arranged in two rows so that each coupling group for the first twist has a triangular shape. This model is available in 2×1 version (i.e. with two couplings).

The reason for the ‘delta’ geometry of the spindles of the upper deck is due to the possibility of using in feed H5 or H6 bottles of glass filament, maintaining a gauge between the spindles of 240 mm.

The bottle bobbins of the upper deck are protected by special balloon containers with treated surface to avoid damage to the glass fibers. In this model, the spindles of the upper deck and those of the lower deck are both driven by a tangential belt.

In the event of a thread breaking, the lever is released by lifting mechanically from the drive shaft and the relative spindle of the lower deck moves from the tangential belt through a joint that causes it to stop against a locking lining.

The control is electronic: all data are set on the touch panel.

TBR/SC combination twister with side creel for the first twist

When it is necessary to work starting from packages with a heavier weight than that allowed by the models listed before, or when you want to process threads weighing more than 5,000 Dtex, the spindles for the first twist are located on the side of the machine. The model with this configuration is called TBR/SC.

The TBR/SC model is equipped with a larger feed lever compared to that of the previous models, since it must be able to drag up to 5 ply and heavier thread weights. In this model the spindles of the first and second twists are controlled by a single motor and, in the event of a thread breaking, the feeding lever is released, the corresponding motors are deactivated and braked.

In the case of the processing of H8 and H9 glass filaments there is a version to combine up to 5 plies (TBR/SC 5×1.
